Gradings and Belts
Gradings are held twice a year at our dojo and provide an opportunity for kōhai (students) to demonstrate their skills, fitness and perseverance. Successful completion of grading syllabus enables kōhai to progress through the belt/ranking system and be taught progressively more advanced techniques and kata while refining and perfecting thier existing skills.
Grading for any belt is a privilege, not a right. Kōhai are only allowed to grade when they are considered to be of a good enough standard to progress to the next level. They will be invited to grade, and should not ask or request to be graded.
Due to the high standards expected and maintained, a Kyokushin karate black belt is one of the most respected and admired black belts in the martial arts world today.
